DUAL FUELS:
In dual fuel engines equiped with a carburator, an air/ gas mixture is brought to the cylinders and then compressed. A small amount ( about 8% of the energy-input) of gasoil is injected for the ignition of the mixture.
GAS ENGINE:
Natural gas as fuel:
Natural gas is environment-friendly and cheap. When natural gas is combusted, there is hardly any exhaust of soot or sulphur dioxide.
The specific composition of natural gas guarantees a good combustion with low emission values. This makes natural gas an ideal fuel for RIC-engines ( Reciprocating Internal Combustion-engines) .
Other gases like bio-gas, extracted from waste, sewage water, manure or landfill installations can be used in these engines as well. This means that bio-gas, which is otherwise wasted, is converted into useful energy while the environmental pollution decreases.
FThe main advantages of Dual Fuel engines:
- Ø The efficiency increases considerably;
- Ø Its ability to function on natural gas as well as on pure diesel;
- Ø a quick change-over of fuel;
- Ø a very flexible fuel system;
The powerfull ignition by a pilot injection of diesel makes it possible to work with various gases of low caloric value.
Even bio-gas of changing composition and energy-contents constitutes no problem for the DXD/ DZD – engine. | | |
